With the current pandemic engulfing the world, it is hard to keep your sanity and stay positive. The way happiness does not depend on people, positivity too is found within oneself. Derive positivity out of this negativity and you are a survivor. During these two quarters of 2020, life rather COVID-19 taught me some of the most valuable lessons that I might not learnt otherwise. • Quit being prodigal: Money saved one day will save you. Control your expenses and be thrifty. Having said that, utilize your resources judiciously. Buy only what you really need and step out again when you have exhausted almost all of your stock. Cook only as much as necessary to avoid wastage (of food as well as money).
• Health is wealth: Heard this a lot but proved now. Nothing can supersede your health. Money won't bring back lost health, so you must prioritize your fitness. Adopt a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet and an exercise routine ( you can spare 30 minutes per day for your health, wouldn't you?)
• Socializing is a blessing: The joy of meeting and greeting people is something which cannot be equivalent to any other leisure activity. Talking and listening helps to overcome hardships better. Communicating helps easen that load in your heart. That is why we have psychologists and psychiatrists!
• Only your family cares for you genuinely: I hate to break it to you but the bitter truth is that in times of crisis, your family is the only pillar of support you'll find. Friends, acquaintances and colleagues do turn out to be the genuine caring souls sometimes, but nothing will ever substitute the care and love of your parents.
• Doctors will never be out of business: You might be the CEO of a renowned firm that has been at the pinnacle of success, but any disease or disaster will pose a threat to your future. Millions of people worldwide have lost their jobs in the last 3-4 months, with US accounting to more than 36.8 million of them.
• Time is precious, don't waste it: Countries being put on lockdown does not put your brain on lockdown! Invest your time wisely. Learn a new skill, get more active, be creative, spend time with your family or loved ones. This time may never return ( pray at least not this way).
• Panic buying won't help: It won't keep the virus at bay but it surely snatches away somebody else's needs. Try not to be selfish and be a little considerate towards other people who are as much scared as you are.
